How to Upload your Podcast Video to Spotify (Step-by-Step Guide)

Spotify Wants Your Video Podcast.

For years, YouTube has dominated video podcasts—but Spotify is making a serious play to change that.

With 300,000+ video podcasts now on the platform and an 88% surge in video podcast consumption, they’re betting big on video.

The best part? Uploading your video podcast to Spotify is easier than you think.

Here’s a step by step guide to upload your video podcast to Spotify.

Step 1: Log Into Spotify for Podcasters

Go to Spotify for Podcasters.

Click “Log In” and enter your Spotify account credentials.

Note: You must use Spotify for Podcasters to upload video. Even if your audio podcast is hosted elsewhere, you can still create an account and upload videos directly.

Step 2: Start a New Episode

Once you’ve logged in from your dashboard, click “New Episode.”

On the next screen, click “Select a file” and choose your .MP4 or .MOV video file.

File Specs You Should Know:

Format: .MP4 or .MOV

Aspect Ratio: 16:9 widescreen

Max Length: 12 hours

Audio: AAC-LC, 192kbps or higher

Note: Spotify will transcode your video after uploading, so larger files may take longer to process.

Step 3: Add Episode Details

Once your video is uploaded, fill out the episode details:

  • Title & Description – Keep it clear, engaging, and keyword-rich.

  • Episode Artwork (Optional) – If you want custom cover art, upload it here.

  • Content Check – Mark if the episode contains explicit content.

  • Engagement Features – Add an optional Q&A or Poll to encourage listener interaction.
